Summus, Inc. (USA) (OTCBB: SUMU), a developer of applications and information processing tools that optimize the wireless multimedia experience, today announced that it will be the exclusive provider of ringtones and wallpaper based on C2 and Intermedia's upcoming mega-release, "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" ("T3"), starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, who reprises his signature role.
To date, the "Terminator" franchise has generated well over half a billion dollars worldwide. The "T3" wallpaper and ringtones will be available on or before the movie's theatrical release of July 2, 2003.
Summus is working with most major domestic wireless carriers to distribute and promote "T3" wallpaper and ringtones, powered by BlueFuel(TM), in the U.S. and Canada. Users will be able to save photos of images from the motion picture as wallpaper, or background images, to the screens of their handsets. Photos of Arnold Schwarzenegger's character ("Terminator T-850"), Kristanna Loken's character ("T-X"), and other characters will also be available. The ringtones available for download will feature songs and sound bytes from "T3".
"We are excited about delivering mobile content based on 'T3', the next installment in the blockbuster 'Terminator' film franchise," said Bjorn Jawerth, CEO of Summus. "Wallpaper and ringtones are extremely popular with the youth market, which is a large audience for this highly anticipated film."
The youth market continues to look for ways to digitally personalize their mobile phones through ringtones, wallpaper and screensavers. Ringtones alone are a multi-billion dollar market. U.K.-based market intelligence firm mobileYouth estimates that in 20 key world markets, ringtones will grow to about $2.4 billion from about $1.4 billion in 2003.
The "T3" wallpaper and ringtones will be powered by BlueFuel, Summus' Superfast, Superthin(TM) platform tailored for efficient and easy interaction with information in the mobile environment. The BlueFuel platform enables service providers, content providers and handset manufacturers to create and deliver mobile applications quickly and on a wider range of devices and operating systems than competing solutions. The platform and architecture give developers the tools necessary to easily build applications for today's resource-constrained wireless environment while providing a superior user experience.
